Avocado Mulcher
One Pass. Stumping Mulched.
TMC Cancela mulchers turn 30mm prunings to 150mm stumping waste into fine mulch. Phytophthora suppressed. Roots protected.
- Processes 30mm to 150mm material
- Fine mulch suppresses Phytophthora
- On-site processing — no trucking
- Holds water in drought-prone blocks

TMC CANCELA has more than 40 years of excellence and innovation

STUMPING WASTE MOUNTAINS
Why avocado orchards need mulching
Australia's avocado industry is expanding fast across QLD, NSW, WA, and SA. Every block faces the same problem — massive pruning volumes with nowhere to go.
Routine canopy work drops 30–120mm branches. Stumping cuts trees back to 1–2m and generates branches up to 150mm in a single event.
Trucking it off the property is cost-prohibitive. The volumes are too large and the material too bulky.

Process where it falls
A TMC Cancela mulcher processes stumping waste in place. No loading. No transport. No disposal fees. The floating hammer system self-adjusts to material thickness. 30mm prunings and 150mm stumping limbs exit as uniform fine-grade mulch. No secondary processing required.

Phytophthora — fine mulch protects, coarse mulch destroys
Avocado roots are extremely susceptible to Phytophthora cinnamomi. Mulch quality directly determines whether the orchard floor protects roots or destroys them.
Fine mulch maintains aerobic decomposition. Oxygen moves through the layer. Beneficial fungi (Trichoderma) colonise the material and actively suppress Phytophthora.
Coarse chunks trap moisture and create anaerobic pockets. Water pools. Oxygen drops. Phytophthora populations spike and attack feeder roots.
TMC Cancela's floating hammer system produces consistently fine output regardless of input diameter — uniform mulch from every pass.

Inter-row water competition
Weeds and grasses between avocado rows compete directly for irrigation water — a serious cost in drought-prone growing regions where every litre is allocated.
The TPS side-shift reaches under the canopy edge where vegetation concentrates. Maintaining a clean inter-row through summer puts more water into the trees and less into volunteers.
