MARSHMALLOW SMOTHERS PASTURE
Why marshmallow demands mulching
Malva parviflora forms dense stands along fence lines, stock camps, and water points. Each plant produces hundreds of viable seeds. Standing residue persists through summer and reseeds at the autumn break.
Stock won't graze mature plants. The taproot crown regrows from above-ground cutting alone.

Crown destruction matters
Slashers cut the tops only — the woody crown survives and regrows. A TMC Cancela mulcher grinds the entire plant including the crown to ground level.

Mulch as germination barrier
Marshmallow seeds are small and surface-germinating. The mulch blanket left after a TMC Cancela pass blocks light and physical access to bare soil.
Combined with timely follow-up at the autumn break, germination drops sharply.

Wide widths for broadacre
The TGS and TGI cover broadacre paddocks fast on standard PTO tractors. Pre-seed-set mulching across hundreds of hectares fits inside the optimal 2–3 week window before seed hardens.
