Why pine wildlings demand mulching
Pinus radiata, P. contorta, and P. pinaster plantations seed prolifically. Wildlings escape into adjacent native bushland. Once established, pine displaces native species and changes soil chemistry.
Unlike eucalypts, pine does NOT coppice from cut stumps. Mechanical clearing is permanent — no follow-up sucker control needed.

Permanent kill from one pass

Lower tooth wear than hardwood
Pine wood density runs 400–500 kg/m³ — softer than any native hardwood. Carbide tooth consumption runs 30–50% lower on pine than on eucalyptus.

Plantation edge management
Scheduled annual or biennial clearing along plantation edges prevents wildlings reaching coppice age. The TFK or TFX matched to a tracked carrier handles 100s of kilometres of edge per season.
