Sunflower Mulcher
One Pass. Stalks Flush.
TMC Cancela mulchers grind woody sunflower stalks to ground level. Volunteers stopped. Sclerotia broken down.
- Grinds woody stalks flush to ground
- Reduces volunteer sunflower emergence
- Accelerates Sclerotinia breakdown

SUNFLOWER STALKS PUNCTURE TYRES
Why sunflower stubble demands mulching
Sunflower stalks reach 20–40mm at the base and remain woody after grain harvest. Stubs left standing puncture tyres on follow-up equipment.
Dropped seed heads breed volunteer sunflowers in the rotation crop. Sclerotinia sclerotia in stalk and head debris carry disease across years.

Flush-cut to ground level
The TGS and TGI grind stalks flush to ground level — no stubs to spear tyres. Wide working widths up to 320cm cover broadacre paddocks fast.

Sclerotinia management
Sclerotinia sclerotiorum produces hard sclerotia that survive in soil for 3–7 years. Mulching sclerotia-laden debris and increasing soil contact accelerates breakdown.
Mulched residue decomposes faster than standing stalks. Sclerotia exposed to soil moisture and microbial attack lose viability faster.

Volunteer suppression
Each shattered seed head drops thousands of viable seeds. Mulching destroys most of the heads at harvest. Combined with knockdown ahead of the rotation crop, volunteer pressure drops sharply.
