Why tussock demands mulching
Mature tussocks (Poa species, serrated tussock, native poa) accumulate dead matter at the centre of each clump. Stock avoid the rank tussocks and graze around them.
The accumulated dead matter shades green growth, suppresses palatable grasses, and reduces grazing area by 30–50% on infested paddocks. Standard slashers cut only the tops — dead crowns remain.

A TMC Cancela mulcher grinds the entire clump — green leaves, dead matter, basal crown — to ground level. The pasture resets to bare crowns ready for fresh regrowth.
