Why yakka demands mulching
Xanthorrhoea species (grass tree, yakka) form dense stands that lock up grazing country across SA, VIC, WA, and NSW. Plants live for centuries and reach 250mm trunks at maturity.
The fibrous leaf crown and resinous trunk shed standard slasher equipment. Standing dead litter accumulates beneath the canopy and suppresses pasture grasses.

Permanent kill on the first pass
Unlike eucalypts and acacias, yakka does NOT resprout from mulched stumps. One pass, one job done. The TGS, TGH, and TMH handle the resinous wood without stalling.
Resinous wood processing
Yakka resin coats and clogs standard mulcher drums. The carbide-tipped hammer system on TMC Cancela equipment maintains drum speed through resin buildup.

Pasture recovery beneath
Once yakka is gone — and it stays gone — pasture grasses recover beneath the cleared ground. Carrying capacity climbs back over 1–2 seasons.
The mulch blanket protects the soil through the recovery phase and feeds organic matter back to the root zone.
