Bamboo Mulcher
One Pass. Stand Mulched.
TMC Cancela heavy-duty mulchers shred bamboo culms — 20mm to 200mm — through 4 chain curtains. Shrapnel contained. Stand cleared.
- Shreds 20mm to 200mm culms
- Contains projectile shrapnel
- Withstands 4% silica abrasion
- Pairs with rhizome rippers

DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME
Why bamboo demands mulching
Bamboo is dozens of species. Culms run 20mm in golden bamboo to 200mm in giant Dendrocalamus.
Running species (Phyllostachys) spread rhizomes 5–10m per year. Clumping species (Bambusa) pack 20–40 culms per square metre. Giant species reach 25m tall.
New shoots grow 300–900mm per day during the growing season. A cleared site goes waist-high in 60 days if rhizomes survive.

Chainsaws can't keep up
Slashers and flail mowers cannot process bamboo. Chainsaws work culm-by-culm — too slow at 40 culms per square metre. A TMC Cancela mulcher grinds the entire stand in one pass and reduces 200mm Dendrocalamus to ground-level mulch.

Hollow culms, sharp shrapnel
Bamboo culms are hollow. They don't chip — they shatter into spear-shaped splinters up to 300mm long.
Standard 2-curtain mulchers can't contain that debris pattern. TMC Cancela's TFS2 and larger models run 4 chain curtains that trap projectiles before they exit the housing.
Bamboo also carries up to 4% silica — the highest of any plant in Australia. Carbide tips wear 2–3× faster than on hardwood. TMC Cancela's replaceable hammer system swaps worn tips in the field without removing the drum.

Two phases: mulch, then rip
Mulching the culms removes only the visible plant. The rhizome mat below ground regenerates within weeks.
Phase 1 — mulch all above-ground culms with a TMC Cancela head.
Phase 2 — deep-rip the rhizome mat to 500mm with an excavator ripper. Severs node connections and exposes rhizomes to desiccation.
The THK Excavator Mulcher runs both phases on the same machine. Mulch with the head. Swap to a ripper. No second mobilisation.
