Why boxthorn demands mulching
Lycium ferocissimum infests 9 million hectares across SA, VIC, NSW, WA, and TAS. Plants reach 5m tall and 6m wide.
Stems carry rigid thorns 20mm on fresh growth, up to 150mm on mature wood. Stems run 15–60mm. Old plants form 80–120mm root crowns.
Birds spread red berries along fences, creeks, and powerlines. One untreated plant becomes a 6m thicket within a decade.

Standard clearing fails
