Why lemon orchards need mulching
Lemon trees produce sharp 20–40mm thorns along younger wood. Pruning waste accumulates between rows and presents a real handling hazard for ground crews.
Dead wood harbours melanose (Diaporthe citri) and brown rot (Phytophthora). Fallen lemons feed Queensland fruit fly populations all season.

Mechanical shredding eliminates contact
Drum housing and chain curtains on the TOK and TOX contain thorny debris during shredding. The operator stays in the cab. No manual handling of thorn-laden cuts.
Disease cycle broken on-site
Melanose lesions on dead wood release spores in spring rain events. Mulching destroys the lesion structure before sporulation. Fewer infections on new flush growth.

Queensland fruit fly breeds in any rotting citrus on the orchard floor. Continuous in-season shredding with the TP or TPS keeps the breeding substrate gone — passive control on top of trapping and bait programs.
